Book Description
My name is Rover. Hardly original, I know, but I'm not what I seem. Sure I look like a dog, but I'm just a regular guy underneath. And you won't believe what I saw in my years at Days Restaurant. Hoo boy, could I tell some tails. I mean tales. This typing's tough on the old paws. Well, anyway, I may not be the best looking dog you'll ever see, but you'd be amazed at how a fur coat like mine can make you invisible. This is my story as I told it to Ben. Who's Ben? Just the guy who feeds me. Not too smart, but a pretty nice guy. Anyway, he speaks my language and I had to tell somebody, didn't I? Oh boy, did I. The folks at Days were something else, and I do mean something else. Ah, you'll see what I mean. And, hey, if you like what you read tell old Ben, will ya? Might make him a little more generous with the biscuits, if you know what I mean. Ben Douglas was born during WWI. Serving with the Air Force in WWII, he was assigned to the 406th Fighter Group. The Group was involved in six campaigns and reived two Presidential Unit Citations in Europe. Returning home, he married Maisie and bought and operated Days Restaurant in historic Ocean Grove, New Jersey. After his son was mugged, he organized the Ocean Grove Citizen Patrol. With 140 Members, they are helping to make the community safer by serving as the eyes and ears of the Police Department. Rover died in 1989, one year after Maisie passed away.
