Book Description
The Teddy Boy On The Trolley Bus. Preview:
As a shy young lad entering his teenage years, our storyteller bursts on to the 50s scene like one of Jerry Lee Lewis' Great balls of Fire. His first record player. His first 78. His first pair of drainpipes, and his first ducks arse. They are all massive moments to treasure and events that mould this working class Derby lad into a true product of the rock and roll era.
We follow his progress through life, charting a period of local recognition and his antics as lead guitarist with his band The Vibrons. An experience that has a profound effect on his development. We observe his transition into his professional life, coming of age as a serial drinker, and presenting him with the perfect credentials as a suitable candidate for the advertising profession. His luck, often overriding his judgement, takes him across the Atlantic to Hollywood and to play at film directing and life in general. This new environment for his pursuit of happiness and musical stimulation, with it's blue skies, waving palm trees and sparkling swimming pools, could not be in more stark contrast to the smoky old towns of the East Midlands.
Then purely by chance, after decades of being in avid denial of ever doing so, he returns to his roots and by a series of unplanned events and coincidences, finds himself back with the original Vibrons, living and enjoying his teenage years all over again.
From the Publisher
Paul began writing this book as a series of anecdotes but during the process an unexpected development occurred - namely the reunion with his long lost band members. This gave him the ideal ending, and indeed a whole new purpose to his story.
Paul writing under his old school nickname of EDDY VEE states that, "Writing the book was the hard part. Getting it published and printed through Lulu was a breeze."
