Lulu Review by Stephen Hooper, Mon 7 Jun 1:29 pm EDT 2004
It is a novel filled with humour and woodland creatures. The author has combined different styles, jokes, and topics.
Book Description
This book is for anyone that ever read a novel and thought, "What the heck was the author thinking?" The novel takes us into the mind of a writer by chronicling the efforts of a bad fictional author as he tries to write a good fictional novel. It is not a 'tell all' book about the Martha Stewart, Hillary Clinton, and Michael Jackson love triangle. It is not a Pulitzer Prize winning novel about the life of Gandhi. It certainly does not describe a new high-calorie, low-exercise, all chocolate diet and endorsed by a celebrity with fake boobs.. The plot has something to do with a man who enters a bar to buy a drink; yet the story is so much more. 'The Hope Chest' is a novel that breaks a lot of rules and has the freedom to take a humorous look at literature. At its core it is the story of an average person struggling in the face of adversity - and failing. The story will forever serve as a reminder that 'You Can't Parallel Park a Bus.'
