The Popejoys of Pistolburg
Editorial Reviews
Book Description
White collar crime is something a simpleton like Bosco Popejoy should avoid, but an idea to sell property he doesn't own has been brewing since he was influenced by an infomercial on how to buy real estate with no money down. That plan takes wing when he meets Gwen, an old acquaintance on probation for misappropriating funds from Buster's Large Appliance. Together, they tackle the unfamiliar logistics of land dealing, delving into document forgery - which reveals a surprising talent within Gwen's family - followed by escrow circumvention, and eventually, the attraction of naive buyers. Two instances of biological extortion fill the news and Bosco can't shake a niggling suspicion that his shady father, a firewood dealer and part-time smuggler bent on largely unsuccessful attempts to sabotage earth moving equipment realigning the highway in front of his house, may somehow be involved.
