Book Description
Bob and Charlie is a comedy about two 50-year-old dreamers from New York City who descend on Las Vegas with a clever scheme for giving away money.
Bob is Bob Edwards, an energetic pessimist who is so afraid he is a loser that he is obsessed with wanting everyone else to feel like a winner. To fulfill that dream, he hopes to open Captain Bob's Casino in Las Vegas, where everyone will be a winner --- literally. Bob has only one problem: persuading someone to give him enough money to fund his dream.
Charlie is Charles Berber III, an exhausted optimist who is the sole heir to the Berber baby food empire and the chairman of The Berberian Foundation, a unique charity that promotes civilized ideals and women's rights in a highly personal way.
In despair that his dream will never be realized, Bob wanders into a Manhattan bar and meets Charlie, who is charmed by Hoover, Bob's talented cocker spaniel, into putting the deep pockets of The Berberian Foundation behind Bob's scheme to make humanity happier. But first Charlie makes several adjustments to that scheme. The result is Berber Baby Heaven, which changes the skyline, and enhances the family vacation resort image, of Las Vegas.
