The vicissitudes of Mariana's health and research and the course of the couple's love are all mirrored stylistically in a work composed of a kaleidoscope of narrative, dramatized vignettes, letters and film script, on a canvas as broad and cosmopolitan as Hahn's fellow traveler and literary precursor, Lawrence Durrell.
